You Can Now Play Super Mario 64 on PS Vita

Super Mario 64, Nintendo’s seminal Nintendo 64 3D platform game from 1996, surely needs no introduction to readers of this site, but like all Nintendo first party games, it’s only officially playable on Nintendo hardware. Of course, the homebrew community have sought to change this, and earlier this year, a unofficial fan hack for Super Mario 64 titled Ghostship was released for PC by HarbourMasters.

And now, a PS Vita homebrew coder by the name of Rinnegatamante has ported HarbourMastersGhostship to the PS Vita, meaning that you can now play Super Mario 64 on the Sony handheld, albeit very unofficially, of course! Rinnegatamante’s PS Vita port of Ghostship can be downloaded now from this link.

In addition to making Super Mario 64 playable on PS Vita, the Ghostship hack also adds several enhancements and mod support to the game.

However, in addition to the PS Vita port of Ghostship, you will need an N64 ROM of Super Mario 64 to play the game.

HarbourMasters, who created the original PC version of Ghostship, have also previously ported Suoer Mario Kart to PC under the title Spaghetti Kart, and Star Fox 64 under the title Starship.

Should you wish to support the future PS Vita homebrew work of Rinnegatamante, you can join his Patreon.
