Syvalion has been announces as this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines of emulated coin-op titles, following last week’s release of Hyper Crash, on which we reported at the time.
This week’s game, Syvalion, is a horizontally scrolling shoot ‘em up that was originally released into arcades by Taito in 1988.
One thing that’s notable about Syvalion is that it was designed by Bubble Bobble creator Fukio Mitsuji.
Hamster Corporation describes Syvalion as a shooting game in which you: “control the mechanical dragon Syvalion, navigate through the complex maze, and defeat the boss waiting at the goal,” adding that, “with maps and stories changing every playthrough, can you witness all 100+ unique endings?!”
Syvalion’s home releases have been few and far between, with the game previously being ported to the Sharp X68000 and SNES, and most recently (20 years ago!) being released as part of the Taito Legends 2 compilation for PlayStation 2 in 2006.
The Arcade Archives version of Syvalion will be release tomorrow (July 16, 2026) on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, priced at $7.99 USD or local equivalent.
Meanwhile, the Arcade Archives 2 version of Syvalion, which adds a new Time Attack mode to the game, will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series X|S, priced at $9.99 USD or local equivalent.
As usual, purchasers of the Arcade Archives version of the game on Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version on Nintendo Switch 2 or PlayStation 5 respectively for $2.99 USD or local equivalent.
