Thundercade, a 1987 shoot ‘em up that was developed by SETA (no, that’s not a typo!), and published by Taito, is this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines of emulated coin-ops, following last week’s release of Fighting Golf, on which we reported at the time.
Hamster Corporation describes Thundercade’s gameplay as follows: “as a member of the special forces, use a high-speed motorcycle equipped with machine guns to reach the enemy stronghold. Destroying structures such as buildings will reveal power-up items in the form of sidecars equipped with gun barrels. Sidecars come in various types some fire bullets further, while others can only shoot sideways so choose the right one for each situation!”
Thundercade was originally released in Japan under the alternate title of ‘Tokushu Butai U.A.G.’
The Arcade Archives version of Thundercade is released today (October 15, 2026), on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, priced at $7.99 USD or local equivalent.
Meanwhile, the Arcade Archives 2 version, which adds a new Time Attack mode to the game, is released on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series X|S, priced at $9.99 USD or local equivalent.
As usual, purchasers of the Arcade Archives version of the game on Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version of the game on Nintendo Switch 2 or PlayStation 5 respectively, at a later date, for $2.99 USD or local equivalent.
