Valve Declined Portal 64, So The Developer Is Creating A New Nintendo 64 Game Similar To The Popular Co-op Game That Boosted The Helldivers Developers’ Reputation

Valve asked James Lambert to stop development on the fan game Portal 64 due to its use of proprietary Nintendo development libraries.

Lambert has since switched to open-source alternatives and is now working on a new Nintendo 64 game with a concept similar to the cult classic co-op title Magicka. In this new game, players will act as a wizard learning different runes to combine and create spells for actions like casting fireballs, jumping, or flying. This game appears to be influenced by Magicka, which involves combining elements to create spells, similar to inputting strategies in Helldivers 2.

Despite the setback with Portal 64, Lambert‘s technical skills have been recognized, and there is anticipation for his upcoming magic-themed Nintendo 64 game.
