Windjammers, Karnov & Friends is a new Evercade cartridge release that was announced during yesterday’s Evercade Showcase stream.
We’ve already reported on the other two Evercade cartridges announced during the stream, namely The Neo Geo Collection 1 and The Gremlin Collection 2.
The rather cutely named ‘Windjammers, Karnov & Friends’ was also announced. But the title does rather raise the question of just who the friends of the portly Russian strongman are. Well, it’s not those Central Perk-dwelling 20-somethings! But who could they include? Vladimir Putin? Anna Kournikova? Rudolf Nureyev?
Turns out it’s none of the above! In this case, Windjammers and Karnov’s “friends” are three other arcade titles, in the forms of the shoot ‘em up Vapor Trail: Hyper Offence Formation, the action game Atomic Runner Chelnov, and the shoot ‘em up Rohga: Armor Force.
The lead titles Karnov and Windjammers probably need no introduction, but in case they do, Karnov is a 1987 platform game, and Windjammers is a 1994 Pong-esque sports game involving flying discs.
The five-game Windjammers, Karnov & Friends Evercade cartridge will be the 15th release in Evercade’s purple-cased arcade line, and it is scheduled for release in June 2025, with pre-orders opening today (1st April 2025).
