Konami has discussed the challenges of remaking Metal Gear Solid 1 compared to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, highlighting that the former would be significantly more difficult. This information was revealed in an interview with Famitsu, as shared by Genki on X/Twitter. The producers, Noriaki Okamura and Yuji Korekado, explained that remaking Metal Gear Solid 1 would require creating many new elements from scratch, particularly in terms of level design. In contrast, the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 involved fewer changes and was more straightforward to update.
