Flap Happy hatches on to NES and GB

Flap Happy is a new platformer from retro publisher Mega Cat Studios and developer Refresh Games. It’s out now on NES and GB and mixes traditional platforming with roguelike elements. It also promises a freshly laid experience each time you take flight due to procedurally generated levels with 900 different possibilities.

In the game, players take control of Flappy, a daring bird on a mission to escape a perilous, procedurally generated maze filled with deadly obstacles, including hungry sharks, treacherous spikes, and other hazards. Each level requires precision flying as well as exploration to unlock the exit. And that’s not all as in true arcade style, the high score table will separate the sparrows from the eagles and the eggs-cellent 8-bit graphics will get a squawk out of any retro gamer.

Flap Happy was initially launched via a successful crowdfunding campaign but can now be purchased in cart form directly from Mega Cat Studios’ website. There is also the opportunity to try before you buy with a demo ROM to be used with emulators. Both the NES and GB versions come complete with a cart, box and manual.
