Captain Wayne: Vacation Desperation, a retro first-person shooter developed by Ciaran Games, will be published by Silver Lining Interactive for PC via Steam later in 2025. The announcement was recently made by both companies, and a playable demo is already available for interested players.
The game features a distinctive cartoony, hand-drawn art style combined with fast-paced, gory gameplay. Players take on the role of Captain Wayne, a sailor with a shotgun for an arm who must battle through eight expansive areas across Orca Isle.
Captain Wayne’s character is described as a “hot pink-wearing, fish-chomping, cigar-huffing” sailor who lost his arm in an encounter with a “Vampire Whale” and replaced it with a double-barreled shotgun called “The Captain’s Ol’ Reliable“. The storyline follows Wayne’s quest for revenge after being marooned on Orca Isle when his ship, the S.S. Salty, is stolen by a mercenary group known as The Killer Whales.
The game promises various weapons beyond the arm-shotgun, including chain-gun fingers, explosive “Boom Brew” bottles, and thunder powers. It will feature both a campaign mode with animated cutscenes and an endless mode for players to test their survival skills.
