Delta Emulator 1.7 Brings Nintendo DS Online Multiplayer to iOS

The Delta emulator for iOS is set to release version 1.7 on Monday, March 31st, 2025, bringing full Nintendo DS online multiplayer functionality to all users. This highly anticipated feature, which has been in beta testing since October 2024 and previously limited to Patreon subscribers, will finally become accessible to the general public.

The update will allow users to utilize online features in any Nintendo DS game that originally supported them, including trading Pokémon, racing in Mario Kart DS, and visiting other players’ islands in Animal Crossing. This functionality works through community-hosted Nintendo WFC (Wi-Fi Connection) replacement servers like Wiimmfi, WiiLink WFC, and AltWFC, as Nintendo shut down the official servers over a decade ago.

Beyond DS online multiplayer, Delta 1.7 includes several other significant improvements:

  • An updated Nintendo 64 core that fixes numerous graphical issues by switching to OpenGL ES 3.0

  • Support for custom N64 resolutions and texture packs

  • Improved support for controller cases like GAMEBABY and PlayCase

  • Enhanced screenshot capabilities when using controllers

  • Additional app icon variants

  • Various bug fixes and performance improvements

For those eager to try these features before the official release, a public TestFlight beta version is already available. The update has generated considerable excitement among users who have been experiencing graphical issues with N64 games like Shadows of the Empire, Rayman 2, and Mario Golf.

Delta continues to be one of the most popular emulator apps for iPhone and iPad, allowing users to play classic games from multiple platforms in a single application.
