Hero GP Out Now on Game Boy Color

Despite its name, Hero GP is not about the life-saving exploits of a family doctor, but, as we previously reported, Hero GP is actually a great-looking arcade-style motorcycle homebrew racing game that’s been developed for Game Boy Color, and it was released today (April 14th, 2025).

Hero GP has been coded by Game Boy developer Shane McCafferty, whose previous Game Boy titles have included Cave Dave, Nitro, Starseed 1+2, Block Droppin’.

Hero GP has been published by Thalamus Digital Publishing, who have made Hero GP available to purchase for just $1 via their itch.io page.

Thalamus Digital Publishing describe Hero GP as follows: “Hero GP is a 3D racing game which pays homage to the classic 3D retro racers of yesteryear. The aim of the game is simple: prove your worth as you compete in challenging races around the globe to become the ultimate racing champion.”

So if that sounds up your street, and you’d buy that for a dollar, then zoom on over to Thalamus Digital Publishing’s itch.io page now!
You even get two versions of Hero GP for your buck! There’s a ROM designed for use with Game Boy Color emulators or with an Everdrive on original Game Boy Color hardware, and a ROM designed for us with the Analogue Pocket.
