Beloved JRPG Sea of Stars gets new DLC this month

One of the best indie retro games of recent times, Sea of Stars, is getting a new DLC pack releasing on the 20th May 2025 from developer Sabotage. The new campaign, titled Throes of the Watchmaker, will once again see protagonists Zale and Valere use their powers to defeat a new foe in a new adventure boasting a new eight-hour expansion with several new characters and mechanics. What’s more, the new DLC is completely free and will be available for all versions of the game on PC, Xbox, Switch, and PlayStation.

The new Sea of Stars adventure will centre around one of the main game’s most intriguing characters, the Watchmaker, wh ohas a new invention that the Solstice Warriors must explore and save. The DLC will also include a new score from composer Eric W. Brown with additional original songs composed in collaboration with Yasunori Mitsuda, known for the Chrono Trigger music, returning as a guest composer.

Sabotage has also confirmed that the new adventure will be set straight after the main quest, so it can essentially just be a new part of the main quest for those who haven’t already enjoyed this critically acclaimed JRPG. And for those that have already finished the game, the DLC will just be accessible or the perfect excuse to start the experience over.
