We’ve been keeping tabs on Earthion, a much-anticipated Mega Drive shmup from Ancient. The game has been in development for some time and has huge involvement from legendary game maker and composer Yuzo Koshiro. The latest update is that the official Earthion website has been launched, and we have a brand new trailer to salivate over. Anyone who has been following the story will know that it originally came out of the blue, an announcement made by Koshiro with a video of footage from the game on a CRT television. Since then, we’ve had bits and pieces of information about the game and confirmation that it was delayed until later in 2025.

I don’t think anyone will begrudge waiting for this, given the attention to detail Koshiro is known for. And although many of his fans cannot wait to play, we at least now know that it will be released ithe n the summer of this year, thanks to a post from publisher Limited Run Games, who released the new information in tandem with Koshiro. Retro fans are in for a treat, and everything about Earthion just looks spot on; even the website is ultra-cool, as is the new trailer. Hurry up!
