The Magic Knight games were a series of platform adventure games created by David Jones, that were initially released for the ZX Spectrum, before being ported to other 8-bit home computer formats.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Magic Knight’s first appearance in the 1985 game Finders Keepers, Pixel Jockey are seeking funds on Kickstarter to produce an impressive-looking 40th Anniversary Collection of all four of David Jones’s Magic Knight games for the ZX Spectrum (Finders Keepers, Spellbound, Knight Tyme, and Stormbringer) housed in what Pixel Jockey have dubbed “The Codex,” which is a rather luxurious case that will hold all four games on cassette, and that has been designed to look like an ancient book.
The Magic Knight 40th Anniversary Boxset, including the four Magic Knight games for ZX Spectrum on cassette and The Codex is available for a £40 pledge to the Kickstarter campaign. Additional perks can be added, or for a £70 pledge you can get the complete collection of Magic Knight 40th Anniversary merch, including not only the 40th Anniversary Boxset, but also a T-shirt, mug, and enamel badge.
Pixel Jockey have a well-earned reputation for producing high-quality re-releases of classic games for retro formats, such as the ZX Spectrum 3D Combat Classics boxset on which we previously reported.
At the time of writing, the Magic Knight 40th Anniversary Boxset Kickstarter campaign has raised £8,162 towards its £12,000 goal, from 147 backers, and there are still 23 days left for the campaign to run.
