Donut Dodo Fantastico has been announced as the sequel to the acclaimed retro-style single-screen platformer Donut Dodo, a game based on the conceit that it was a lost arcade platformer from 1983, and that was certainly how it played!
And now Donut Dodo’s developers, Pixel games SARL-S, have taken to X to announce that Donut Dodo is getting a sequel , in the form of Donut Dodo Fantastico.
According to the game’s Steam description, in Donut Dodo Fantastico, “The goofy bird returns to treat Dodo Junior to a whirlwind day at the funfair!” Little else has been announced about Donut Dodo Fantastico, but from the Steam page, it looks to be very much in the vein of its predecessor, which is certainly no bad thing.
Features promised in Donut Dodo Fantastico include six unique funfair-themed stages and all-new attraction-based mechanics, tight, precise controls tailored for single-player arcade action, multiple secrets and alternate endings based on skill and progression, local and global high-score leaderboards, arcade-style CRT-friendly pixel art with a vibrant 16-color palette, a high energy chiptune soundtrack, and no continues, meaning each run is a fresh chance to climb the leaderboard.
The original Donut Dodo was released on a variety of formats, including PC, Nintendo Switch, Atari VCS, and Evercade.
However, so far, the only format confirmed by Pixel Games SARL-S for Donut Dodo Fantastico is PC, and although Donut Dodo Fantastico does not yet have a release date, the game can be wishlisted on Steam now.
