Retro-inspired Platformer Prehistoric Gal Out This Week

Prehistoric Gal is a new retro-inspired budget platformer from publisher Rataliaka Games and developer lightUP. The game is out on the 20th June 2025 for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 and will cost $4.99. The release backs up Ratalaika Games‘ commitment to the budget retro scene and supporting smaller development teams to get games to market.

In the game, a ham-loving caveman named Dude has been abducted by evil space aliens. It’s up to our heroine to go on a quest through a colorful prehistoric world to save her beloved. Players will run and jump, level up, obtain helpful items, and even ride dinosaurs while overcoming challenging enemies and dangerous traps. The gameplay appears to hark back to the classic era of 16-bit platforming and character design.

Prehistoric Gal features some colorful pixel art, and from the trailer, it seems to have a bouncy chip tune soundtrack. It has four different worlds to explore, each with branching paths to add some longevity. Cavemen platforming antics are in vogue recently, as we recently brought you the news of the latest Joe & Mac collection out later this year.
