Back in 2024, we reported on an upcoming update to the excellent Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition that was due for release in the future. Well, now the wait is over as the free update is available from today and adds three new versions of Worms to the already brilliant package. Anyone who bought the initial game can download the update on their chosen console and continue to blast away.

Since its release in 2024, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition has been lauded for its excellence in game preservation from masters of the art, Digital Eclipse. Its release has meant that many gamers, who may not have experienced Worms before, now have the chance to look back on one of gaming’s fondest series. The release also included lots of history, told through video interviews and design documents not seen before.

The new DLC is called Backwards Compatible Update, which gives some clues as to the nature of the new content included. Firstly, two ports of the very first Worms title have been included for Super Nintendo and Mega Drive. There is also a GameBoy Advance port of Worms World Party, which means the overall package has been bolstered by two new Worms titles. The other extra bit of content is a set of ‘Boggy B’ cheat codes.
