Turbo Kid is a retro-inspired action platformer, extreme sports, metroidvania hybrid title from developer Outerminds Inc. The well-received title was originally released on Steam in 2024, and it now finds itself heading to Nintendo Switch on the 5th of August 2025. The original game was made following a successful Kickstarter. The crowdfunding campaign was called for after fans of the cult classic movie, Turbo Kid, felt it would make a great video game adaptation. This game’s story is a continuation of the 2015 Sci-fi/Action cult-classic. Now, kids get to be Turbo Kid for themselves.
The game is set in a retro-futuristic nightmare vision of the 80s, a world where humanity has broken down, water is scarce, and tyrannical warlords roam the Wasteland. Described by the developer as a single-player metroidvania adventure with insane weapons, skills, and pixel gore where players ride a BMX. Players will blast enemies, use their deadly BMX skills, and explore vast levels as they discover the secrets of the Wasteland.
