Mario Paint Gets Drawn onto Switch Online

Mario Paint is the latest Super Nintendo title to be added to the Nintendo Switch Online Nintendo Classics collection, and it is now available to play for all subscribers to the service.

The Nintendo Classics release of Mario Paint is compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2’s mouse controls, or it can also be used with USB mice, whereas the original SNES version of Mario Paint required the Super NES mouse peripheral, which was packaged with the “game”.

Mario Paint is a light-heated art (and music) creativity package that was originally released for the SNES back in 1992. Despite selling well on release, this Nintendo Switch Online release of Mario Paint is its first since its first release for Super Nintendo over 30 years ago.

The title was developed by Intelligent Systems, and was produced by the late Nintendo legend Gunpei Yokoi, whose history with Nintendo goes all the way back to 1965, lasting right until 1996, when he joined Koto Laboratory, sadly passing away a year later.

Mario Paint is the first Super Nintendo title to be added to the Nintendo Switch Online Nintendo Classics service for a while, with the service more recently receiving a selection of Game Boy titles, on which we previously reported.

And although I keep up with modern gaming, we all know you can't beat retro classics (or maybe I'm just old!)
