We recently reported that Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution was heading to PC and consoles this summer. Since then, publisher WayForward has announced that the retro platformer remaster will be released on August 19, 2025. It will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. There was also news that a deluxe version will include three extra outfits for Shantae, all with different attacks.
Originally developed for GameBoy Advance and now heading to modern hardware with HD character portraits and illustrations, Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution pits Shantae the Half-Genie against nefarious pirate Risky Boots, whose twisted new scheme threatens to shake Sequin Land to its very core. Using Shantae’s trademark hair-whip attacks, creature dance transformations, and a variety of useful items, players will explore multilayered levels, overcome challenging foes, and rearrange the land itself to turn the tectonic tables on Risky.
As already mentioned, the deluxe edition adds three exclusive costumes that change Shantae’s appearance and enhance her abilities: the Relic Hunter Costume powers up Pike Ball attacks, the High Voltage Costume powers up Storm Puff attacks, and the Sizzle Armor Costume powers up Fireball attacks. All physical versions of Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution for consoles and PC will include the deluxe edition costumes on cartridge or disc. Incidentally, pre-orders for the physical edition will begin on August 8, 2025.
