Retro merch and music firm iam8bit has announced that pre-orders for the Rare 40th Anniversary Box Set will be open from 7th August 2025. The four LP box set features music tracks from some of Rare’s finest games from the last 40 years. The set will include music from Sea of Thieves, Conker’s Bad Fur Day, Battletoads, Banjo-Kazooie, Viva Piñata, and over ten more games.
The iam8bit website states that “across its four decades of excellence, Rare has established itself as one of the most iconic names in video game development. Undercover shooters, merciless fighters, ursine platformers, swashbuckling treasure hunts…if you can dream it, Rare’s probably made it, with all the commitment to quality and whimsy that only a studio of their caliber could muster.”
The LPs come pressed on four shades of Rareware gold and blue vinyl, a nod to the color of the legendary studio’s ever-evolving logo through the decades. It also comes wrapped in a premium full-cover slipcase and features artwork from Rare’s Lewy Jones. Each sleeve is adorned with a collage of Rare icons and legends, from talking piñatas to great and mighty poos and more.
