Munch Mobile is this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines of emulated arcade titles.
This week’s release follows the release last week of Battlantis, on which we previously reported.
Munch Mobile is an action game that was originally released into arcades by SNK in 1983.
Hamster Corporation describes Munch Mobile’s gameplay as follows: “[p]ilot a mysterious car with arms, picking up fuel and food along the way. The goal is to make it home before your fuel runs out. Place trash left from your food into bins to earn big points! Show consideration in public spaces and enjoy a fun drive!”
The game is also known as Joyful Road in Japan, and the game’s US arcade release was handled by Centuri. Munch Mobile received its first home release in 1984, when the game was ported to the Texas Instruments TI-99/4 home computer.
The Arcade Archives version of Munch Mobile is out now on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, priced at $7.99, and the Arcade Archives 2 version of Munch Mobile is out now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, priced at $9.99, with this week’s entry in the Arcade Archives 2 series seemingly skipping a Nintendo Switch 2 release this week.
