Montezuma’s Revenge 40th Anniversary Remake Leaping To Consoles

Montezuma’s Revenge was originally released on 8-bit computers way back in 1984, and to celebrate its 40th anniversary, a remake was released on Steam in January 2025. There is now news that the Montezuma’s Revenge remake is heading to Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and the Microsoft Store on December 10th, priced at $14.99 with a 10% discount for the first week. As well as the game’s digital release, a Switch physical will also be available.

A total of three developers, Mission Critical Studios, Handcrafted Mystical Games, and Normal Distribution, have been involved in the remake alongside publisher EastAsiaSoft. Originally developed by Robert Jaeger and released in 1984 as Montezuma’s Revenge, The 40th Anniversary Edition resurrects and expands the game to 100 rooms, but now the timeless classic has been updated with 2.5D visuals presented in widescreen HD. This time, players can choose between male and female explorers, Pedro or his sister Rosita, to delve deep into the dangerous ruins and hunt for treasure.

Key Features:

Collect valuable artifacts as you solve the ruins’ many mysteries!

Enjoy retro aesthetics reimagined in vibrant 2.5D style.
