Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly Remake Haunting PC And Consoles

FATAL FRAME II Crimson Butterfly

Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly was originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2003. The horror classic was then remade for the Wii and is now receiving a second remake, set for release on Steam, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on March 12, 2026. A new trailer gives horror fans a glimpse of what they can expect in this enhanced version of Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly, alongside information on pre-order bonuses in the deluxe digital version.

The game is a full remake of the second installment in the Fatal Frame, part of the Project Zero series. The title has undergone a complete overhaul to offer a haunting experience, which has been beautifully reborn thanks to enhanced graphics, sound, and control elements. The graphical enhancements offer a higher level of detail with refined textures, striking lighting, and shadow contrast, generating a more haunting and realistic atmosphere than ever before.

Fatal Frame II Crimson Butterfly’s sound has also been revamped to offer spatial audio that will immerse players deep into the action, allowing them to enjoy a more authentic experience. Not only will they hear and feel the presence of spirits more intensely, but wraiths will appear when least expected, such as trying to grab the protagonist’s hands when reaching for an item or waiting in the shadows. Players will have to react quickly to escape these attacks. Failure to do so will inflict Willpower Damage, leading directly to intense combat.
