Cult FPS Remake No Players Online Back Online Following DMCA

No Players Online

We first reported on No Players Online getting a remaster back in October. The new version of the cult 2019 title was due for release on November 6th, 2025, on Steam, but was hit with a DMCA claim. In a press statement, developer Beeswax Games and publisher Black Lantern Collective said. “No Players Online – Is Back Online! Indie studio Beeswax Games reinstates its newly launched horror-FPS after an unfounded DMCA claim halted sales for nearly three weeks.”

No Players Online is now back again to purchase, and has already received over 250 positive reviews. The developer felt it was “ironic” that the game was no longer available, given that the game is “about exploring a broken, abandoned multiplayer server haunted by something that won’t stay buried”. According to the team, the DMCA was concerned about who authored the game, and it meant it had to be taken down while things were sorted out. They also mentioned it felt like a “betrayal from a friend”.

Adam Pype of Beeswax Games and Black Lantern Collective said. “We spent two and a half years of our lives and a ton of money making this game… It’s crazy to me that someone can just take down our game by filling out a simple form. Any visibility on our game at this point would be crucial, so if you want to support a little indie studio, please leave a review on Steam and share the game on the internet.”
