Arcade Archives is Hamster Corporation’s line of emulated arcade titles that have been released on a weekly basis on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 since May 2014, and this Thursday (Christmas Day) sees a special celebration for Arcade Archives, as the series reaches an impressive milestone by releasing its 500th title.
Many of the titles released in the Arcade Archives line have been lesser-known games, such as last week’s release of The Outfoxies, on which we previously reported.
However, for this special 500th release, Hamster Corporation is releasing an arcade classic that even your granny will have heard of: Space Invaders.
What’s more, we already know that next week’s 501st release will be its sequel: Space Invaders Part II, which will blast out of the Arcade Archives on Thursday January 1st, 2026.
As you more than likely already know, Space Invaders is Taito’s seminal arcade shooter that first invaded arcades way back in 1978, with Space Invaders Part II following a year later, in 1979.
We’d like to congratulate Hamster Corporation on reaching this impressive milestone, and here’s to the next 500 Arcade Archives releases! Let’s hope that Hamster Corporation manages to maintain their impressively eclectic mix of household names and forgotten classics!
