Fighting Fantasy Classics was released back in 2018 on Steam and mobile devices. The book-to-video game adaptations of the choose your own adventures was a big hit with critics and players. It’s now getting a port to Nintendo Switch, due for release on February 5th, 2025. The initial release will include the first four books to play through: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, The Citadel of Chaos, The Forest of Doom, and Starship Traveller.

The game is being released by developer Tin Man Games, and they feel the Switch may just be the natural home for digital Fighting Fantasy books. “Playing Fighting Fantasy gamebooks on a Nintendo Switch feels like a natural fit,” said Tin Man Games founder Neil Rennison, “so we’re really excited to bring Ian and Steve’s beloved series to the platform. May your STAMINA never fail!”

The original books were, of course, written by legends Ian Livingston and Steve Jackson back in the 80s, and their brilliant work comes to life off the page and on to the screen. The extra features, such as automated digital character sheets, maps, and music, all help the experience be as rewarding as it is on traditional pen and paper. This is an exciting release, and we will keep our readers updated as to when more of the books will be released on Switch.
