A new book from premium retro publisher Bitmap Books, titled Leaps + Bounds, has been announced. The 336-page tome will chart nine generations of home gaming across every platform imaginable. From the humble beginnings of Pong machines, right through to the modern behemoth boxes, Leaps + Bounds aims to cover it all. As well as the well-known hits from Atari, Nintendo, and Sony, there will be plenty of space for the unique curios that may have gone under the radar.
The book will also contain bespoke artwork of each console from artist Adam Rufino, as well as a foreword by retro console maker Christopher Taber, who is the CEO of Analogue. Although the book isn’t available to buy right now, a date of February 23rd, 2026, has been set. Currently, interested parties can sign up for email updates to know when the book is ready for purchase or pre-order.
Leaps +Bounds will also include edge-to-edge high-quality lithographic print in hardback, sewn binding for enduring quality, and the ability to lay flat for ideal double-page image viewing. It will also include a bookmark ribbon and be supplied with a free PDF for viewing on the go.
