The Game Boy Nintendo Classics catalog was bolstered today, by the addition of two additional titles. The new additions to the Game Boy Nintendo Classics catalog on Nintendo Switch Online are: Yoshi, a puzzle game starring Mario’s dinosaur sidekick developed by Game Freak, that was originally released in Japan in 1991 and in North America and Europe in 1992; and Balloon Kid, a platform game that was developed internally at Nintendo under the auspices of Gunpei Yokoi, that was originally released in North America in 1990, and in Europe in 1991.
Unusually, the Japanese version of Balloon Kid was reprogrammed to become a licensed Hello Kitty title named Hello Kitty World, and rather than being published by Nintendo, this version of the game was published by Character Soft in 1992.
These latest additions to Nintendo Switch Online’s Game Boy Nintendo Classics catalog follow the previous two additions to the catalog back in November 2025, which were Kid Icarus: Myths and Monsters and Bionic Commando, as we reported at the time.
To be able to play these two games and the rest of the Game Boy Nintendo Classics catalog, a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required. (and a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2, obviously!)
