Hyperwired is a new pixel art shooter title from developer Sidral Games and publisher SelectaPlay. It is due for release on PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch in summer 2026. The developer has described Hyperwired as a “high-voltage tethered roguelike space shooter”, and from taking a look at the trailer, there does seem to be some interesting game mechanics at play.
According to Sidral Games, “Hyperwired redefines the classic top-down shooter” with its unique tether mechanic, which means players must plug into power sockets. Plugging in allows the player’s ship to recharge weapons and systems. What makes this more interesting is how the ship is more powerful when connected, but is limited in range due to the physical cord being plugged in. The developer has suggested it creates some interesting “high-stakes” gameplay about deciding on staying plugged in or moving on to avoid enemy swarms.
Each new run is different due to the procedurally generated sectors. There are over 250 bullet modifiers to experiment with and over 40 upgradable weapons that allow lots of customization of run builds. Alongside all the weapon options, players have ten different starting ships to play with, so there will be some longevity to this one.
