Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness is an instalment of the ever-popular Pokemon series that was originally released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2005.
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness was the second Pokemon title to be released on the Nintendo GameCube, following Pokemon Colosseum, which was originally released in Japan in 2003, and in North America and Europe in 2004. Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness is a direct sequel to Pokemon Colosseum, with both games focusing on fighting and capturing Shadow Pokemon
Pokemon seems as popular as it’s ever been at the moment, with the new spin-off Switch 2 title Pokopia currently selling in huge numbers, as well as the recent standalone releases of the Game Boy Advance remakes of the original Game Boy games, Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch, on which we recently reported.
Now, as of today, Nintendo Switch 2 owners who subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service can play the Pokemon Game Cube title Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness for free, as part of the included Nintendo Classics catalog.
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness joins previous GameCube additions to the Nintendo Classics catalog, such as December’s addition of Treasure’s platform title Wario World, on which we previously reported.
