Pixel Art Roguelite Death By Scrolling Slashing Out On Consoles

Death By Scrolling is a pixel art roguelike title from developer Terrible Toybox NZ and publisher Microprose. It was originally released on Steam in October 2025, but following its success, it’s now launching to Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox on April 16th, 2026. The console launch will coincide with some major updates for the PC version.

Players choose from a cast of unique characters in Death By Scrolling, each with their own abilities and playstyles, and attempt to survive the vertical chaos long enough to collect the gold needed to pay the Ferryman’s exorbitant crossing fee. Along the way, players will encounter bizarre enemies, strange vendors, unexpected side quests, and plenty of opportunities to improve their build mid-run.

Key features Death By Scrolling:

Varied Cast of Characters: Choose from multiple playable characters, each with unique perks and abilities that support different playstyles and strategies.

Vertically Scrolling Mayhem: The world constantly scrolls upward, forcing players to move, fight, and react quickly as danger rises from below.

Relentless Pursuit: The Reaper is always closing in. She cannot be defeated-only stunned, dodged, and temporarily escaped.

Loot & Progression: Collect gold and precious gems during each run to purchase upgrades, abilities, and powerful items from vendors encountered along the way.

Bonus Runs & Side Quests: Discover optional challenges and quests that appear during runs, offering additional rewards and new opportunities to grow stronger.

Monster Mash: Battle a wide variety of bizarre underworld creatures, from minor pests to powerful demonic bosses.

Quirky Lore & Humor: Explore a tongue-in-cheek vision of the afterlife, filled with strange characters, playful dialogue, and bureaucratic absurdity.

Leaderboards: Compete against other lost souls and see how your performance stacks up on the global leaderboards.
