Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeons is the latest title in Taito’s long-running platform series and is set to get a major update on August 22nd, 2026. We first reported on its release back in 2025, and it follows the news that spin-off title, Puzzle Bobble Everybubble!, is heading to Steam this month.
The free update, called Boosted, will be available to all players who have already purchased the main game on Switch, PlayStation 5, and Steam. In addition to the news of the update, the game’s producer and Bub himself have revealed a YouTube video explaining the update in more detail. In Bubble Bobble Sugar Dungeons Boosted, the bubble-blowing dragon Bub sets off on a grand adventure through ever-changing, whimsical, candy-like dungeons! Use bubble action to defeat enemies, create platforms with bubbles to move around, and collect treasures.
Players will strengthen Bub with the treasures they gather, learn new skills, and push deeper into the stages. A brand-new giant “Castle” stage also appears, where players can explore maze-like connected rooms while opening up the map. A ported version of the 1997 home console version of Bubble Symphony is included, too.

Bob’s Bonus Gates: Players can choose from three exciting bonus gates that best suit the moment for their adventure enjoyment: a stage packed with treasure chests and items, a stage where you can defeat large numbers of enemies at once and rack up combos, and a skip gate that lets you jump ahead multiple floors.
Significantly Increased Drop Items: The variety and drop rates of items have been expanded, and powerful new items useful for adventure have also been added.
