Blender Bros. set to whizz back onto GBA

Blender Bros. was a game originally developed by Hudson Soft and released by Infogrames back in 2002 for the Game Boy Advance, and now, almost a quarter of a century later, Piko Interactive is bring back the  Blender Bros., on the very format on which they made their first appearance!

Piko Interactive says of the game: “Blender Bros. became known for its unique gameplay mix of platforming, racing, exploration, and multiplayer features. The game follows Blender, leader of the Cosmo Keepers, as he battles the anti-human Zooligans in a galaxy where Humans and Animalmen coexist under increasing tension,” adding that in the game: “Players can glide through stages using Blender’s oversized ears, evolve robotic Mini Bros. companions, tackle platforming challenges, defeat large-scale bosses, and race through explosive stages where collecting keys is the only way to save entire worlds from destruction.”

The Game Boy Advance re-release of Blender Bros. will be available as both a Standard Edition and a Special Edition.

The Standard Edition of Blender Bros. will include a physical Game Boy Advance cartridge; a full color box; a printed instruction manual; and a traditional gray cartridge shell.

Meanwhile, the Special Edition of Blender Bros. will include an exclusive foil collector’s box; a translucent colored Game Boy Advance cartridge; a printed instruction manual; and a bonus collectible poster.

In addition to the release of the game, Piko Interactive will also be releasing the Blender Bros. Original Soundtrack on colored vinyl.

The Blender Bros. Game Boy Advance re-releases and the soundtrack LP can be pre-ordered now from the Piko Online Store.

But Piko Interactive doesn’t intend to stop the Blender Bros. revival there, saying that: “Future plans currently in development include bringing Blender Bros. to modern gaming platforms, releasing the official manga in English for the first time, and producing collectible toy figures based on characters from the series. These upcoming projects are part of a broader effort to reintroduce Blender Bros. to longtime fans while expanding the franchise to a new generation of players and collectors worldwide.”

Could the Marios have challengers to their position as gaming’s premier “Bros.”? Probably not, but the new Blender Bros. releases should be well worth checking out, anyway!

In recent years, Piko Interactive has been responsible for  reviving a number of dormant retro gaming properties, such as reviving the Bleem name for a retro store, as we reported previously.

My love of gaming began way back in 1986 with the ZX Spectrum, before becoming a lifelong Nintendo fan in 1990 with the Game Boy. And although I keep up with modern gaming, we all know you can't beat retro classics (or maybe I'm just old!) https://x.com/paultwist
