Papaya Plaza is a new pixel art sim from developer Biscuit Factory Games and publisher Weekend Games. It’s set to release on Steam in 2027, and has been described by the developer as a “cozy city builder” where players will “design their own pixel art paradise, solve villagers’ problems, and improve the rank to become a 5-Star town”.
Players will become the Mayor of Papaya Plaza and transform the run-down tourist town into a vibrant destination spot and home for the villagers. They’ll transform it from drab and dreary to warm and welcoming. Improving the new home will be a laid-back and low-stress affair, and the design is totally up to the player. As Mayor, the uniquely designed villagers will come to the player with their problems and ideas for the town, and there are lovely rewards if they choose to help out.
Key features of Papaya Plaza:
Laidback Lychee: Low-stress and low-stakes, the problem-solving and city-building gameplay is the perfect way to relax after a long day.
Pixel Art Pineapple: The game’s living world is beautifully crafted in pixel art style, making it a joy to look at and be in.
Five-Star Fig: Build your village and increase your Town Rank along the way. Improve enough, and you’ll become a 5-Star town; what an achievement!
