DekaDuck is a new 2D action platformer from developer Glauco Silva and publisher Asteristic Game Studio, currently in development for Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. The game is heavily influenced by Mega Man, although the developer has also mentioned Alien Soldier, Mischief Makers, Silhouette Mirage, Darkwing Duck, and Earthworm Jim as games that have played a part in building the design.
A new Kickstarter has launched to ensure that the DekaDuck can get a physical release on PlayStation and Switch, as well as to fund the last parts of development. Those who may not be sure if they want to pay up front can try a demo on Steam now. The Kickstarter campaign will also pay for funding for expanded content, refinement, and continued development through to release.
In DekaDuck, players control a half-duck, half-robot bounty hunter equipped with a detachable mechanical arm. The arm is the core of how the game plays. Players grab enemies, throw objects, and use whatever is around them to keep moving or find different ways through fights and platforming sections. The game is built around reacting to what’s on screen rather than following fixed solutions. Enemies and environmental objects can be used directly as part of movement and combat.
