Biomechanical Toy is a pixel art arcade run ‘n’ gun title released by Gaelco and Zeus Software in 1995. It had almost been lost to retro gaming history before making an appearance on Evercade’s Gaelco compilation. Now, retro specialist publisher QUByte Interactive is bringing the Biomechanical Toy to modern platforms with the release on Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam expected on July 16th, 2026.
In a press statement, QUByte Interactive said. “Back in 1995, the legendary Spanish arcade giant Gaelco and the brilliant minds at Zeus Software released Biomechanical Toy. It arrived just one year before Metal Slug hit the world stage, sharing that same explosive, chaotic rhythm, ultra-expressive pixel art, and unique ally-rescue mechanics. Yet, while one became a global phenomenon, the other became a rare, prized cult gem.”
