Pixel Art Roguelike Shard Squad Teaming Up For A Console Release

Shard Squad is a pixel art bullet heaven roguelike that was originally released on Steam in November 2024. Now, developer The Root Studios, alongside publisher Nuntius Games, has announced that the popular shooter will release on  Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 on July 30th, 2026.

 

Inspired by classic monster-taming adventures, Shard Squad showcases beautiful isometric pixel art, memorable elemental creatures, and a story designed to make players connect with every member of the squad. In Shard Squad, players assemble a team of elemental creatures known as Shards, combining unique abilities and powerful synergies to survive relentless waves of enemies and challenging boss encounters.

 

Every run offers new strategic possibilities through different combinations of characters, relics, and abilities as players fight to save the kingdom of Mellunia from the mysterious phenomenon known as the Desalme. Beyond its action-packed gameplay, Shard Squad features a colorful world filled with lovable characters, each with their own personalities and relationships.
