Valkyrie Saga is a PSX-era-inspired 3D platform title from developer Public Void that was released on Steam in January 2026. Since then, the game has picked up a publisher in the form of retro specialists Rawrlab Games, which will bring Valkyrie Saga to Nintendo Switch 2 on July 30th, 2026. The game has already received hundreds of positive reviews on Steam, mainly thanks to its authentic early 3D gameplay and style.
Valkyrie Saga is an indie, retro platformer styled after PSX classics, giving players the chance to embark on an epic odyssey. They’ll play as Roll the Valkyrie, a divine warrior tasked by the gods with one mission: Stopping a floating island from crashing into the earth. In the game, players will ascend the ancient skyborne land, explore ancient ruins, and unlock their secrets. As the divine warrior, players’ll have to master both the art of soaring across the skies across the plummeting island, and the way of the spear, confronting otherworldly foes.
The developer has said that “Valkyrie Saga captures the original PSX with era-authentic visuals, a deeply immersive soundtrack, and gameplay that recreates the magic that defined a generation”. The publisher has said in a press statement that it’s “thrilled to announce that on July 30th we will release our first game for Nintendo Switch 2! A 3D retro platformer non-linear adventure, inspired by many great PSX classics”.
