The 1986 Famicom Doraemon game has been announced as this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Console Archives line of emulated titles from classic consoles for modern formats, following last week’s release of The Conveni, on which we reported at the time.
Despite being released some 40 years ago, this game was actually robotic space cat Doraemon’s third venture into video games, having previously starred in video games for the Arcadia 2001 console in 1983, and the Super Cassette Vision console in 1985.
Hamster Corporation describes the game as follows: “This is an action game in which Doraemon goes on adventure using various Secret Gadgets to search for Nobita, Shizuka, Gian, Suneo who have been sent to “Space. Once you defeat the bosses in each world and rescue all of them, a wonderful ending awaits you!”
The Doraemon Famicom game was originally released by Hudson Soft in Japan only, but the game has previously received two different unofficial fan translations into English.
The sci-fi comedy of Doraemon first appeared in manga way back in 1969, later being adapted into other media, including anime TV series and movies, and (obviously) video games, most recently in 2019’s Doraemon Story of Seasons for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC.
The Console Archives version of Doraemon will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 and Playstation 5 tomorrow (July 30th, 2026), priced at $7.99 USD or local equivalent.
