Retro-inspired Horror Title Dead Stop: No Vacancy Screaming Out Next Month

Dead Stop: No Vacancy is a new retro-inspired horror title from Portuguese indie developer Camel 101. It will launch on Steam on August 13th, 2026, and “is the first entry in Dead Stop, a new anthology of short, standalone horror games inspired by classic horror stories and unsettling places”. The developer has described it as “a short, standalone first-person horror experience” and that it’s inspired by slasher movies of the 90s. From the trailer, Dead Stop: No Vacancy certainly seems to give that cool retro horror vibe.

Players step into the shoes of Nancy, a hard-edged investigative reporter whose journey to the town of Crestfall takes an unexpected turn. Stranded without directions or a GPS signal, she arrives at the remote Paradise Motel just as daylight begins to disappear. What initially appears to be an inconvenient stop soon becomes an investigation into the motel’s dark history, and whatever may be hiding beneath it.

Dead Stop: No Vacancy key features:

A short and complete first-person horror experience

Environmental puzzles connected to the motel’s history

A story told through exploration and environmental details rather than cutscenes

A retro visual style inspired by 1980s slasher films

One night at the Paradise Motel, where nobody checks out clean
