A modern Reaster of 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was announced during yesterday’s Gamescom Opening Night Live, what’s more, current owners of The Witcher 3 will be able to upgrade to the new modern remastered version of the game completely free of charge! The Witcher 3 remaster will bring a slew of upgrades and enhancements to visuals, performance, gameplay, and more when it launches on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The Witcher3: Remastered will also be launching on two new platforms. A native version of the game will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, and through a new partnership between CD Projekt RED and Blizzard Entertainment, on Battle.net — both on September 29.
All owners of The Witcher 3 can also now play to two acclaimed expansions — Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine — at no additional cost.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a single-player open-world role-playing game from CD Projekt RED. In this acclaimed dark fantasy adventure, players take on the role of Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, as he searches for his adopted daughter, Ciri. Originally released in 2015, the base game and its first two expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, are being modernized and upgraded in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered. By introducing sweeping improvements to visuals, gameplay, and performance, it offers players the most polished and immersive version of Geralt’s adventure to date, all ahead of the release of a third expansion in 2027 — Songs of the Past. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has won over 250 Game of the Year awards and sold more than 65 million copies worldwide.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was originally released in 2015, following 2011’s The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, and 2027’s The Witcher.
Another new entry in a long-running series (one that’s been running for twice as long as The Witcher!) was also showcased during Gamescom 2026’s Opening Night Live, when a new gameplay trailer for Mega Man: Dual Override was unveiled, as we reported yesterday.
