Mega Man: Dual Override Debut Gameplay Trailer Revealed at Gamescom

Mega Man: Dual Override, the forthcoming new mainline Mega Man game, was announced by Capcom back in March, but during today’s Gamescom Opening Night Live, attendees and viewers of the online stream were treated to a new gameplay trailer for the game.

The long-awaited twelfth mainline entry in the Mega Man series is set to be released on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5&4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC next year.

The new trailer provides the first glimpse of new gameplay mechanics, bosses, and playable characters, including Proto Man, who possesses his own unique abilities, giving players more choice in how to tackle the game’s challenges.

The game’s new Override system allows robots to temporarily unleash power beyond their normal capabilities. However, this boost in strength comes at a cost! When Override runs out, players will experience a temporary loss in performance, so learning exactly when to activate Override and how to wield its power will be key. Players will also be able to install Custom Chips, with a brand-new personalization system, enhancing Mega Man and Proto Man with additional abilities.
The game will also introduce eight new Robot Masters, including the energetic Twinkle Girl, who sets the stage alight with dazzling firework-themed attacks. The Robot Master Astro Man, from Mega Man 8, also returned in the new trailer.

To learn more about Mega Man: Dual Override, you can visit the game’s official website.

Mega Man: Dual Override will be the first new mainline Mega Man game since 2018’s Mega Man 11, all following on from the very first Mega Man game, which was released for NES almost 40 years ago, way back in 1987.

Despite his advancing years, there’s clearly still quite an appetite for Mega Man amongst fans. Other recent Mega Man projects on which we have reported have been a crowdfunder for a Mega Man comic book, and a new unofficial fan game based on Mega Man X.
