Turbo Turbo is a new retro-inspired arcade racing shooter that started out life as a M.A.S.K-inspired prototype from developer Baardmoeder. Sadly, the new game won’t include any of the actual M.A.S.K vehicles, but is aiming to capture that classic Saturday morning cartoon feel. Turbo Turbo is currently going through a crowdfunding campaign and is asking arcade fans to contribute towards the development before a Steam release.
“The game is basically a fusion of Outrun and House of the Dead where players are trying to hold off an alien invasion while racing. The basic story does have a twist, but Turbo Turbo is all about the glee of the frantic action,” said Baardmoeder’s Sjors Jansen. “I think many people dreamed of a M.A.S.K. game like this back in the day, but it’s not going to make a billion dollars. So hopefully there’s a crowd out there willing to fund more of these cult classic games.”
