Arkanoid: Revenge of Doh has been announced as this week’s release in Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives and Arcade Archives 2 lines of emulated coin-op titles for modern formats.
The brick-breaking game is the sequel to Arkanoid, which itself received an Arcade Archives release earlier this year, as we reported at the time.
Arkanoid: Revenge of Doh ewas originally released into arcades by Taito back in 1987, and Hamster Corporation describes the game as follows: “The sequel to ARKANOID is back and more powered up than ever! While retaining the core gameplay of bouncing the Energy Ball to shatter Space Walls, it introduces brand-new systems, including branching paths into L and R versions, and an increased variety of items.
Only you can stop the dimension-controlling force DOH, which has crossed dimensions to invade our universe!” Which is a rather grandiose way of saying that you control a bat to hit a ball at rows of bricks, in order to break them!
Arkanoid: Revenge of Doh is indisputably one of the true greats of the brick-breaking genre, and the Arcade Archives version of the game will be available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 from tomorrow (September 3, 2026), priced at $7.99 USD or local equivalent, and the Arcade archives 2 version, which adds a new Time Attack mode to the game, ill be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, priced at $9.99 USD or local equivalent.
As usual, purchasers of the Arcade Archives version of the game on Nintendo Switch or PlayStation 4 can upgrade to the Arcade Archives 2 version at a later date, on Nintendo Switch 2 or PlayStation 5 respectively, for $2.99 USD or local equivalent.
