We first reported on the upcoming new 2D Castlevania title, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, when it was announced back in June of this year, during Summer Game Fest.
And during last week’s Tokyo Game Show, a demo version of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse was available for attendees to try out, with publisher Konami also announcing that a demo of the game featuring its opening chapter, will be made available to download for all formats (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PC, and XBOX Series X|S), and it will be available to download from Thursday October 1, 2026, in advance of the game’s October 17 release, and what’s more, progress made that players make in the demo can be carried over to the full game.
As we reported previously, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse will feature an all-new female protagonist, in the form of Rose Belmont, the daughter of Trevor Belmont, who was the star of the 1989 NES title Castlevania: Dracula’s Curse, and the new game will be set in Paris, in 1499, some 23 years on from Castlevania: Dracula’s Curse, which makes the new game a direct sequel to that 1989 NES instalment of Castlevania.
