New Master System Shooter Razing Core Out Now

Razing Core is a new vertically scrolling shoot ‘em up for the Sega Master System from the homebrew developer Bad Computer, on whose earlier Master System games, Frontier Force and Astro Climber we have reported previously.

The plot of Razing Core is described by its developer Bad Computer as follows: “on a routine deep-space mission the Horizon encounters an unknown object, the Core. Without warning it pulls the Horizon into its slipstream at light speed and heads for Earth. You are about to drop out of hyperspace into a war zone. With the Horizon’s firepower and the Core’s unexpected aid at your disposal, you must destroy the invading alien armada to save humanity.”

Features on offer in Razing Core include: seven stages across the solar system; upgradable primary, secondary and core weapons; a burst charge weapon with five charge levels; screen-filling bosses and multiple mid bosses; boss checkpoints and infinite continues; and a printable manual with an illustrated cover.

Razing Core was released as a digital download on September 8, 2026, and it is available from itch.io for a minimum purchase price of $7.99 USD, but if you’d like to try before you buy, you can also download a free demo of the game.

A physical Sega Master System cartridge release of Razing Core is also planned for 2027.
