Binky: Frozen in Time is a new platform game for the 8-bit Commodore 64 home computer, by veterans of the C64 scene, Chris Shrigley and Terry Lloyd, who worked on numerous Commodore 64 classics in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, including Bounder, Re-Bounder, Future Knight, and Rick Dangerous, and more recently, the new Commodore 64 title Thin Ice, on which we reported earlier this year.
Another veteran of the Commodore 64 scene who is involved in Binky: Frozen in Time is Simon Phipps, who created the game’s cover art. Phipps previously worked for the renowned UK developer Gremlin Graphics, and later became part of the founding team at Core Design.
“I’ve always had a soft spot for the classic platformers,” said programmer Chris Shrigley, “so when Terry Lloyd suggested we make a proper homage to all the games we played and loved back in the day, I was all over it. I think we ended up with a cracking little game, chock full of nostalgia. It was fun to make, and we hope people will have fun playing it.”
“After the success of Chris and Terry’s recent game Thin Ice, publishing the sequel was a no-brainer,” explains Thalamus founder and CEO Andy Roberts. “Binky: Frozen in Time is a welcome return to the classic arcade platform games of times past, and a brilliant continuation of the Binky franchise. Once again we also reunited Chris and Terry with long-time Gremlin Graphics and Core Design cohort Simon Phipps to handle the artwork, as well as veteran video game artist Paul ‘Dokk’ Docherty.”
Binky: Frozen in Time was published on the Commodore 64 today (September 24, 2026), by Thalamus Digital, and the game is available to download now, via itch.io, priced at $7.19 USD.
