Chack’n Pop set to pop out of the Console Archives Tomorrow

The Famicom conversion of Taito’s 1984 coin-op Chack’n Pop is set to be released as this week’s title in Hamster Corporation’s Console Archives line of emulated games from classic consoles for modern formats, following last week’s release of Karate Champ, on which we reported at the time.

Hamster Corporation has described the gameplay of Chack’n Pop as follows: “control “Chack’n” skillfully to take back the Heart inside the maze taken by “Beluga”.

Even though the Famicom home port of the game was released only in Japan, not receiving an international NES release, the in-game text was in English, which means that the in-game text in the Console Archives version of Chack’n Pop is in also in English.

The Famicom version of Chack’n Pop has been re-released several times, prior to this new Console Archives version of the game, having been released on both Nintendo Wii and Nintendo 3DS via the Virtual Console service.

In addition to the Famicom, other home formats to which Chack’n Pop was converted include MSX, NEC PC-6001, NEC PC-8801, Sharp X1, and Sega SG-1000.

The Console Archives version of Chack’n Pop will be released tomorrow (October 1, 2026), on Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5, priced at $7.99 USD or local equivalent.
