Retro-inspired Boomer Shooter Evil Moon: Unspoken Steam Demo Announcement

Evil Moon: Unspoken is a new retro-inspired boomer shooter that mixes in Metroidvania elements. Neckbolt is currently developing the game, with Burning Planet Digital handling publishing. Although no release date has been set, a new demo will be unveiled on Steam as part of October’s Steam Next Fest. The demo will include the game’s first area, the blaster pistol, the rosary bead grappling hook, and the first boss fight in the cemetery.

“Why are there no indie attempts at Metroid Prime?” asks Swedish solo developer Niklas Hallin. “Because it cannot be done! Retro Studios can barely do it with Nintendo money. But, and hear me out here, what if you did it with Boomer Shooter graphics?”

The creator of the Alruna series of highly compact 2D metroidvanias (Alruna and the Necro-Industrialists 2024, Alruna: End of History 2026, Alruna: No Man’s Land TBD) is now bringing that style of irreverent level design into first-person 3D. In Evil Moon: Unspoken, silent nun Siléncia.
