F. David Thorpe, known for his work creating iconic ZX Spectrum loading screens for companies like Ocean and US Gold, has sadly passed away at the age of 84 after battling a long illness. His legacy includes the memorable artwork for classic games such as Head Over Heels, Rambo, Spy Hunter, Hunchback 2, Batman, and Green Beret. Thorpe was known for his expertise in managing the ZX Spectrum’s challenging ‘colour clash‘ feature, making him a standout figure in the industry. The news of his passing was announced on the Ocean Software Facebook page.
I've just been made aware of some sad news. F. David Thorpe, acclaimed ZX Spectrum loading screen artist, passed away in late January, at the age of 84.
